We are officially under way with our new bed and breakfast venture, and enjoying every minute of it! Once you are over the peril of the poached egg at breakfast, and some of the other hiccups, it is essentially a fun and rewarding business to be in. In fact, when it all begins to calm down, you begin to think of new things that will please your guests rather than worrying that things will go wrong.
We have had good, constructive feedback, but are yet to be reviewed on Tripadvisor.com. From what others tell me this may not be a bad thing! I hope that people will come an check out what we have done to transform Trereife in the last few months.

The Aftermath
Battling a wine induced stupor, we are safely the other side of our 'reckoning'. Needless to say it was an hour of self-conscious cringe, but ultimately we were happy with the 'final cut', and for that we have the producers to thank, who made us feel at ease in a very unnatural situation. We personally thought it the showed the house at its best and the helicopter shots were absolutely beautiful! We hope others will appreciate it too.
As you can see from the websites, a lot has gone in a year. We have no plans to start a butterfly farm Ruth will be pleased to know! But lots of other exciting things happening. Yurts will here for 2012 but for 2011 we'll have 4 stunning brand new rooms available for wedding accommodation and bed and breakfast as well as the self-catering flat.
So, what's happening right now at Trereife....Pete and George have random facebook requests, mum is rifling through the emails and looking for material for her new book entitled 'Bonking Under The Owl' (about life at Trereife - contact us for relevance of title!) all at the same time, and Tim is taking a back seat... or so he says. Pete is up a ladder fixing the guttering as we speak, not even the darkness will stop him! Follow our blog to find out how these projects are getting on

Reality TV
Having seen THE programme on Wednesday it's not quite as bad as we were expecting. The trouble is, being a woman makes it difficult to focus on anything except how my limited wardrobe coped with the camera scrutiny and the result is, not well! We always knew that there'd be a lot of editing and that many of the shots and interviews wouldn't be used but the majority of my appearances that have made the final cut have been taken from the real low points of my wardrobe choices! The feminine summer dress footage has been disregarded in favour of the 'practical' jeans and shirt look and while that may be more suitable for banging in yurt pegs and cleaning B and B rooms, it does not lend itself well to my glamorous pretensions (because yes, there is a small part of me that loved pacing around in front of the cameras and imagining myself as the next Carrie or Keira!). But never mind, I'll know for my next reality TV appearance.... bikinis all the way (I hope you're reading 'Shipwrecked' producers!). Seriously I think it will be some time, if not a lifetime, before I subject myself to the cameras again but it was an experience and the footage of the house looks absolutely amazing which is the main thing!! Easter Fair
At this time of year when you live in a house with no heating (for the time being) you start to count down the days to summer. Luckily we are having some long overdue warm weather which makes everything easier. Even getting up and dressed in the morning becomes less of a chore! Anyway at this time of year we also start to look forward to our events season. The first is the ever popular Easter Fair. It never ceases to amaze us how many people genuinely like coming back time and time again, although perhaps credit should be directed towards the amazing and eclectic mix of stalls... not just the beautiful house
Last year the cookery demonstrations went down a storm. This year we have Andy Appleton head chef of Jamie Oliver’s inspired ‘Fifteen’ restaurant and Sanjay Kumar from Slow Food Cornwall, alongside Robin Turner and Nick Howells from Newlyn’s fish industry. The other great thing about this event is watching the kids with boundless energy searching for the clues in the Grand Easter Egg Hunt.
